Early this morning, in the muggy pre-monsoon weather, His Holiness the Dalai Lama rode a golf cart from his residence to Tsola Khang, the main Tibetan Buddhist monastery.
He took his seat before the throne and chanted the Medicine Buddha Sutra with thousands of devotees. The event was organized and hosted by the monks of Sera Mey Monastery to celebrate the upcoming 90th birthday of the Medicine Buddha and the “Year of Compassion” declared by the Central Tibetan Administration.
The chanter from Sera Mey Monastery led the chanting and served tea and sweet rice. In between chanting, His Holiness recited a prayer he had composed many years ago.
After more than an hour of chanting, His Holiness left the monastery and drove back to his residence, greeting the smiling devotees along the way.
