Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar accused China of trying to dilute the identity of Buddhists in the Himalayan region, including Tibet, and destroy their culture.
Kumar accused China of arranging marriages between Chinese youths and Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhist girls to dilute their identity after usurping Tibet’s sovereignty.
The senior RSS leader spoke to local media persons after a four-day visit to the Buddhist-populated tribal districts of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur on the Chinese border.
He said China’s recent announcement that it would appoint a successor to the Dalai Lama must be strongly opposed to make it clear that Tibetans and Buddhists elsewhere will not tolerate any interference in their religious and spiritual affairs.
Kumar said he visited Tibetan monasteries and communities and interacted with local people to discuss development, religion and culture, and stressed the need to be aware of the challenges they face.
He called on Buddhists and Sanatani Hindus to unite and resist attempts to divide them, and said Christian missionaries were also promoting conversions through service and education.
Kumar said Tibetans and Hindus must be made aware that conversion means a change in identity.
The RSS leader added that the Indian government has launched several comprehensive development schemes for border areas and the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh should implement the schemes proposed by the central government to accelerate the development of these areas.
